Box Profile Roof Flashings and 32/1000 Foam Fillers Explained

Box Profile Roof Flashings and 32/1000 Foam Fillers Explained

Flashings & Fabrications

Box profile sheeting is the default choice on a lot of sheds, units and agricultural buildings from Teesside through Yorkshire and across to Lancashire. The flashings only work if they close the profile properly. That is where ridge pieces and foam fillers earn their keep.

What 32/1000 means on site

32/1000 is a common box profile: roughly 32mm deep corrugations on a cover width around 1000mm. The troughs leave gaps under a flat-wing ridge or eaves flashing. Without fillers, those gaps are open to weather and nesting birds.

We supply foam fillers for 32/1000 as ridge and eaves pairs (and singles where you only need one end). Push them into the profile before you fix the flashing down.

Ridge detail

Use a 130° ridge flashing over the apex, fillers in the profile, then fix through the sheet crowns. Seal laps with butyl lap tape where the joint will see standing weather. On long ridges, plan your 3m lengths so joints do not land on the worst-exposed corner of the building if you can help it.

Eaves and verge

Eaves fillers stop wind lifting into the sheet ends. Verge work uses our 90° corner barge flashings to close the gable. Keep the barge colour matched to the sheets so the elevation reads as one system from the yard or the road.

Abutments on industrial units

Where a box profile roof hits a masonry or cladding wall, fit an upstand abutment flashing. Industrial estates around Gateshead, Washington, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester throw up this detail constantly on extensions and plant rooms.

Fixings that last

Use TEK screws with washers suited to the substrate, drive them square, and cap visible heads with colour caps if the client wants a clean look. A dedicated socket driver saves chewed hex heads on a cold morning.

Order flashings and fillers together

Most trade customers buy fillers in the same order as ridge lengths so nothing is missing on day one. Shop flashings and accessories online, or call 01912 853848 from site if you need a same-day steer on quantities for a North East, Yorkshire or North West job.
