Plastisol Coated Flashings for Northern England Weather

When customers ask what finish we recommend for external flashings, the answer for most Northern jobs is plastisol. It is the coating we stock on our standard ridge, barge, abutment and drip tray flashings because it holds colour and resists weathering on roofs that take a battering from rain and wind.

What plastisol gives you on site

Plastisol is a tough PVC-based paint finish applied to steel. Compared with a plain galvanised flashing left bare, you get a colour-matched face that looks finished next to coated roof sheets, plus better resistance to UV and rain. That matters on coastal jobs near the Tyne and Tees, and on high, open sites across the Pennines and into Lancashire.

We supply our core range as plastisol paint finish in 3m lengths. If you need a different coating or a one-off colour for a heritage or architectural elevation, ask about bespoke fabrication.

Match the flashing to the sheet

The fastest way to make a new roof look messy is to mix sheet colour and flashing colour. Keep them the same. Popular calls we get from North East and Yorkshire contractors include Merlin Grey, Goose Wing Grey, Anthracite, Black and Juniper Green. If you are unsure which code you have on the sheets, send a photo or a scrap and we will help match it.

Colour-matched TEK screw caps finish the visible fixings so the ridge and barge do not show a line of silver screw heads from the ground.

Accessories that protect the coating

Cut edges and screw holes are where corrosion starts if you leave them dirty or wet. Clear swarf after cutting, seat screws with washers properly, and use butyl lap tape at overlaps so water is not constantly sitting in the joint. Foam fillers stop wind pumping rain into the profile voids under the ridge.
